●        Comprehensive coverage. If you have this type of insurance, your insurer will most likely cover the bill for a windshield repair or replacement along with ADAS recalibration. If you don’t have comprehensive coverage, your insurance probably won’t pay for your windshield replacement.

ADAS technologies can be found throughout a vehicle, including a car's windshield. ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, and ADAS calibration is designed to ensure those systems are properly calibrated after you get auto glass service. If you have a newer-model vehicle that has modern safety systems like lane assist, backup cameras, adaptive cruise control, etc., your vehicle will require ADAS calibration after you get a windshield replacement.

One of the first choices you'll usually need to make is whether you want to get an OEM replacement or an OEE replacement. Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) windshields are produced by the original manufacturer of your vehicle while Original Equipment Equivalent (OEE) parts are aftermarket parts sold by a third-party and are manufactured to "equivalent" OEM standards. OEE parts are significantly less expensive because it doesn't have the manufacturer's branding.
